Queers for Economic Justice and Southerners on New Ground (SONG) invite you to join them in an all-day planning session at the US Social Forum in Atlanta, Georgia on June 26th, to discuss how to build a national queer left.

Queers for Economic Justice is a progressive non-profit organization committed to promoting economic justice in a context of sexual and gender liberation.

The goal of Queers for Economic Justice is to challenge and change the systems that create poverty and economic injustice in our communities, and to promote an economic system that embraces sexual and gender diversity.

SONG was founded in order to advance Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer multi-racial, multi-issued education and organizing capable of combating the Right wing strategies of fragmentation and division.

The Transgender Economic Employment Initiative (TEEI) offers mentors and mentees the chance to meet someone new, help and be helped, share stories and advice. But TEEI needs to hear from you! The Transgender Mentoring Program will provide peer-based practical and emotional support to job seekers and newly placed employees. If you are a transgender/transsexual person and would like to be a career/employment focused mentor, or would like to have a mentor, please contact TEEI.

Trained in the Ways of Men is a SF Bay Area film about the 2002 murder of Gwen Araujo, a transgender teenager.

The film uses Gwen’s murder to discuss issues of gender identity, gender “deception” and the so-called “gay-panic” defense.

If you are a curious fag you can learn the basics of female genitalia at The Center for Sex & Culture in San Francisco. On June 17, the Center will present a workshop called “Cunts for Fags” to demystify “the innies of the genital world.”

The workshop is open to people aged 18 and over. All genders and sexual orientations are welcome.

Dhillon Khosla’s article is entitled “How the Transgender Label is Causing Confusion and Perpetuating Intolerance.” Khosla, who prefers the term “man” or sometimes “male born female,” discusses why he feels the term “transgender” does not fit his experience. Khosla writes of situations in which he has asked others not to refer to him as “transgender” and this request was not respected.
