I could not agree with you more. Luckily, there is an article about the film written by someone who has actually seen it and who wrote the only formal review of the film in print to date. You can read it here. Please stop by the message boards after you've read the article. I'm very interested in hearing your opinion.

I guess it had to happen: The Gendercator has been entered into Wikipedia.

Thanks to all the outraged protests, The Gendercator is probably a bigger cultural phenom than it would’ve been otherwise.

Comment on 3rd annual QUEER Women of Color Film Festival by transcurrents

Whew!
I am finally, totally recovered from attending this delicious and hot festival. It’s not easy sitting in a sold out theater night after night after night. That’s right this festival played to sold-out crowds three nights in a row.
Go QWOCMAP!
I saw 40 films and had delicious free food at this free film festival. It is the ONLY free film festival in San Francisco. SF has 50 film festivals and the Queer Women of Color festival is the most progressive and unique for its content and presentation, IMO. The festival was managed with precision and I felt pampered the whole time. AND IT WAS FREE! I wanted for nothing. There were even flowers in the gender-neutral/men’s restroom.

Hat’s off to the Executive Director of QWOCMAP, Madeleine Lim and a big kiss and hug to the Festival Manager, Ms. T. Kebo Drew. On the first night of the festival I dubbed Kebo the “International Hostess of Film” because she was so naturally in command of the entire theater. For the weekend the theater was her “house” and I felt like a special guest. I kid you not.

And guess what, lucky world? The QWOCMAP films are going on the road. Showings are scheduled at Frameline in San Francisco, Tongue to Tongue and Fusion in Los Angeles, and Image + Nation in Montreal. Just to name a few.

Congratulations to the entire Queer Women of Color Festival staff! I can’t wait until next year.

Thanks for the story line, Ozmira.

Now I have a reason to read the Oz books. It is very curious that the Oz saga has not been further explored in film.

Funny you should say thanks for the Tip.

When she was an infant, Ozma, girl ruler of Oz, was magically transformed into the boy Tip by the evil witch Mombi. Later on in life (Oz characters never really age much) Tip, with the help of Jack Pumpkinhead and the Sawhorse rescue The Land of Oz from Mombi’s grip. Just before the denuoument, The Good Witch Glinda turns Tip back into Ozma, who now assumes her place as the rightful and delightful ruler. The book is The Marvelous Land of Oz, published in 1904, and second in a long series of Oz books.

I’ve always longed to see the Oz saga transformed into a sophisticated Sci Fi movie.

Yours truly is a member of Congregation Sha’ar Zahav. I am also co-chair of the Trans, Intersex, Genderqueer and Allies (TIGQA) programming committee that produced the Trans Shabbat.

It was a killer success! The community support and interest of trans and non-trans folks was a joy to behold.

I encourage other organizations to try similar community events.

Thanks for reading! I hope you are able to see The Gendercator. I am interested in your take on the film.

I don’t recognize the gender reference of Ozmira. I would love to know!

I have not seen Sticky Fingers of Time, but it is now on my movie list.
